What is a personal trainer?

A personal trainer is a person who designs a fitness program for a client based on the client's goals and abilities.

How much does a personal trainer cost?

One person: $30 per one-hour session.

Two people: $40 per one-hour session ($20 per person)

Three people:  $54 per one-hour session ($18 per person)

What happens in a typical training session?

In the first session the trainer will sit down with the client and assess the client's health status and goals.  The trainer might administer some "tests", such as a sit-and-reach test or three-minute step test, to help determine where the client is physically.  The trainer will also take the client's measurements and resting heart rate and will do a body fat analysis.

In subsequent sessions the trainer might do futher fitness testing or, based on the client's abilites, move right into a prescibed exercise program.

I do a full body analysis which includes resting heart rate, oxygen uptake level, weight, measurements, body fat percentage, RMR, and lean body mass.

I also set my clients up on an eating plan called Volumetrics. It is incredibly simple and effective!

Are you taking new clients?

Not at this time.  My school work and coaching keeps me busy!

I will be taking clients for summer 2009.

I only train women and I only train during the day. I will do an evening training session if you desire a 3-Session Set-Up.

Please see Available Training Hours on home page to see what works for you.

How many sessions do I need?

We can meet as often as you like.  Some options are listed below.

3-Session Set-Up:  If you are a person who can workout on her own then you might try the "Three-Session Set-up".  We meet 3 times.  The first meeting I do a body analysis (weigh, measure, body fat %, Imagelean body mass, RMR, etc..) and run you through some fitness tests.   Session two you do a preliminary workout based on my findings and I also teach you the Volumetrics basics. At our third session I will have done my homework and will be ready to set you up on a 4-week program you can do on your own either at home or in the gym of your choosing.  After 4 weeks you can give me another call and we can meet for a follow-up session to evaluate your progress, or you can continue on your own.

Step-by-Step: Some people like to have a coach right there with them with every workout and this option is also available.  The first and second sessions are as described above, with body analysis, fitness testing, and Image Volumetrics instruction.  The third, and all subsequent sessions, I am there by your side guiding you (sometimes pushing you!) through your workout.  Your own personal cheerleader!

With a Friend:  This option allows you and a friend to get trained together!  The cost per one hour session is $40, or $20 per session per person.  This is a super-fun way to workout and  be kept accountable!  Image Both you and your friend would get the full treatment: body analysis, exercise prescription, and Volumetrics training.  If you'd like I can train with you everytime or I can set you up on a 4-week self-guided program and then evaluate you after the 4-weeks to see how you're doing.

Husband & Wife Partner Yoga:  Oh, my goodness!  Yoga is wonderful for your body and mind, now imagine what it can do for your marriage!  If you and your spouse would like to get fit together you can Imagechoose a traditional workout as mentioned above in the "With a Friend" option or I can train you in Partner Yoga.  Learn how to work together, communicate better, have fun, and get strong and healthy.  The cost for this is $40 per session.  We can train together every time or I can set you both up on a self-guided program.

Only legally married folks, please.  Why? Partner Yoga involves a lot of physical contact and I feel comfortable instructing only those who have made a life-long legal commitment to each other.
